Worshipped and Reviled

Over eight hundred years ago, Michael Bayne was born in Killkenny, Ireland. Descendants world-wide regard him as a god, often seeking out places he's been known to spend time in hopes of meeting him. Sometimes, Descendants make these trips as pilgrimages, and Kilkenny is widely thought of as a holy sight.

Forty-seven years ago, Michael used a huge cult of followers to massacre thousands of Innocents across Canada, an event since called Bloody October. The resulting war saw most of the vampire population of the country eradicated, and the Alley nearly destroyed. To this day, no one has any idea what drove him to do it.

In a last effort to kill the man responsible for this senseless act, the Alley sent their remaining battle-ready soldiers up against the Paragon. Five hundred went and less than thirty survived. Yet, they nearly managed to kill him. Charred so badly that he shouldn't have been able to move, Michael escaped.

It took thirty years for the Alley to find him again and in doing so they discovered that his sway in the mortal world was nearly as impressive as his sway in vampire society. Regardless, no one familiar with this powerful socialite knows much about him. Leads to his known address turn up nothing but a manor being rented by humans.

The Alley has a task force in Ireland to gather information about the man known as Lord Michael Bayne. Despite over a decade of work, little has been turned up. When members of the team show up at events or parties that he is attending, it is not uncommon for Michael to greet them personally. At one private party, Michael approached the soldier who was there to observe him. Offering him a glass of champagne, the Paragon inquired into how their work was going. Afterward, he introduced the soldier to a group of women in attendance and returned to the event, bidding him good luck.

A Hatred That Could Destroy The World

The Prophecy is a religion that most vampires believe in, yet Michael sees it as nothing more than the words of a madman. It is just one more example of the obsession with end-time prophecies and redemption. He detests that it would dictate his life for him, reviles the Ukhozi who has ceaselessly tried to sway him into belief, and thinks that the fate of humanity hinging on a mutation found in just one person, is implausible. More so, this Prophecy would have him work together with the woman responsible for the death of another Paragon, one he considered a son, William MacGregor.

After nearly a decade of steeping in his hatred for her, Michael returns. Intent on killing Lieutenant Wolf for her past, he finds that it will take more than he anticipated to follow through with his plans.

The eyes of a vampire change color depending on the intensity of the emotion or hunger they are feeling. It is a sign of their loss of control over the predator within them.
